Bills vs. Cardinals: Behind Enemy Lines Q&A
Can the Buffalo Bills add to their win total against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1?
In an effort to get more insight on the Commanders, Bills Wire spoke to Jess Root, managing editor for our friends over at Cards Wire, for this week’s behind enemy lines feature:
How important of a return is a healthy Kyler Murray to the Cardinals offense?
JR: Well, it is THE most important part of the Cardinals' offense. You saw the difference last season after his return from IR. They went 1-8 without him and 3-5 with him. With him and almost no receiver production, they were a top-10 offense in efficiency and they were a top-five unit in yardage in the final four games. His play will determine whether the offense is great or only okay. The running game should be strong again, but a healthy Murray amps up the passing game, especially with the addition of Marvin Harrison Jr.
What are the rookie expectations for Marvin Harrison Jr.?
JR: The expectations are almost unfair. I think everyone just expects he will go out and easily have 80-95 receptions and 1,100+ receiving yards. Do some think he can outdo Puka Nacua's 2023 season? Yes, but that is crazy. Even one of the greatest to ever do it, Larry Fitzgerald, didn't even get 1,000 yards as a rookie. That said, he is their clear No. 1 talent at wideout, so he should be very productive. If he is at least at 1,000 yards, it's a solid season.
What defender could be the biggest threat to the Bills offense?
JR: I'm going to say linebacker Kyzir White. He was playing at an extremely high level before he tore his biceps last year. He brings physicality, speed and violence. And since the strength of Buffalo's offense is probably in the run game with James Cook and the pass game with Dalton Kincaid, White will be directly involved with both parts. He is athletic enough to keep Kincaid from having a big game, which will add stress to the rest of the offense.
With the Josh Allen 'overrated' narrative going around, what are your thoughts on that as an outsider?
