Bench-clearing brawl causes Bibb County to forfeit game vs West Blocton

WEST BLOCTON — A bench-clearing fight caused Bibb County basketball to forfeit its 4A-Area 6 game against West Blocton on Tuesday night.

The fight broke out with about two minutes remaining in the third quarter when West Blocton held the 50-49 lead. A Bibb County player was driving to the basket for a layup when he was fouled by a West Blocton player and pulled down by his neck, causing the fight to break out.

Benches were cleared to break up the altercation, and it was announced soon after that the game was over with Bibb County forfeiting. It is unsure at the moment what the following consequences to both teams and players involved will be.

West Blocton now sits at 13-8 on the season and 2-1 in area play while Bibb County falls to 7-5 and 2-1 in area play.
