Ben DiNucci quickly went from golfing to Bills quarterback
From the links to the gridiron, almost literally, for Buffalo Bills quarterback Ben DiNucci.
DiNucci, 27, has signed in Buffalo following a season-ending neck injury for Shane Buechele (neck). Buechele was injured on Saturday during the team's 33-6 preseason loss to the Chicago Bears.
A day later, DiNucci was nearly on his way to go hit the golf course.
The Bills had other ideas.
DiNucci then got a call from Buffalo and he jetted off from his offseason home in Denver to Orchard Park.
On Tuesday, the Bills officially announced that DuNucci had signed. Most recently with the Broncos, DiNucci was a seventh-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2020. DiNucci’s lone start in the NFL came during his rookie year. He threw for 180 yards in a 23-9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Now he's slated to be Buffalo's No. 3 quarterback behind the likes of Josh Allen and Mitchell Trubisky as Buechele once was. It's likely that he will feature in his new team's upcoming preseason contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday but his amount of game time will depend on how much of the playbook he can pickup in such a short time frame.
DiNucci explained his whole journey from the golf course to the Bills in the WKBW-TV clip below:
