The Buffalo Bills had a tough day against the Chicago Bears. Individually, quarterback Shane Buechele had perhaps the toughest.
Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott announced on Monday following the 33-6 loss that the third-string quarterback has sustained a neck injury. It's expected to keep Buechele sidelined an extended period.
It's unclear exactly when the injury had occurred.
Buechele, 26, finished the contest as the team’s third quarterback. He entered the game after Mitchell Trubisky. Starter Josh Allen only played the first quarter of the loss to Chicago.
Buechele took several hits during the contest and finished the game 6-of-10 for 53 yards and one interception. Buechele also added three carries for 22 yards.
Buechele was expected to be the Bills' third-string quarterback in 2024 but on the practice squad. It's unclear if Buechele will get an opportunity to regain that position once cleared from injury.
McDermott: QB Shane Buechele hurt his neck in the game and is going to miss some time. Brandon Beane and I are discussing next steps. #Bills
