8 things to watch for during Bills at Steelers preseason matchup
The Buffalo Bills are ready to suit up and take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Albeit, only for an exhibition.
The Bills continue their preseason journey on Saturday at Acrisure Stadium at 7 p.m. As is always the case, there will be plenty to watch for during these games even if they don't count.
With that, here are eight things to watch for during the Bills' vs. Steelers preseason contest:
Dorian's time
With Matt Milano's season potentially over with a bicep injury, all eyes will be on Dorian Williams. The linebacker entering his second season will get a chance to prove he is the man for the job in terms of replacing Milano in the lineup.
Starter improvement?
In a late announcement on Friday, head coach Sean McDermott revealed that starters will play about a quarter and a half. Get ready for some Josh Allen & Co.
Return man
The wind against the Chicago Bears last weekend did not hep, but KJ Hamler fumbled a return, meanwhile, Daequan Hardy fair caught a punt inside his own five-yard line. Not a good showing by either player, so the positional battle to be Buffalo's returner is still wide open.
Welcome, Ben
Some might think it's just the third-string quarterback... but hey, it's still a new QB on your NFL team. Seeing how the recently signed Ben DiNucci does, even late in the game, will be worth checking out.
Run game \u0026amp; O-line
Whether it was James Cook or fourth-round rookie Ray Davis, Buffalo's early run game did little-to-nothing against the Bears. That has to improve against the Steelers--but a lot of that had to do with the play of Buffalo's offensive line, they have to improve as well.
Another worth watching: Ty Johnson. He did not play against Chicago. Does offensive coordinator Joe Brady still like him?
MVS
It all comes down to the drops. Will that improve for Marquez Valdes-Scantling and can he get more involved against the Steelers? He needs to.
More Keon?
Keon Coleman, Buffalo's top draft pick, had one catch against the Bears. More to come against the Steelers? As noted, starters will get some game time.
Cornerback rotation
On Buffalo's first depth chart of the year, Rasul Douglas and Christian Benford were listed as the two starting outside cornerbacks for the Bills defense. However, former first-round pick Kaiir Elam is pushing for playing time this summer and has rotated in during team drills at training camp and in the preseason. Watching how much and when this trio plays will be worth monitoring.
