49ers rookie lone injury news from Kyle Shanahan after win over Buccaneers
The San Francisco 49ers got out of Tampa Bay with a 23-20 win over the Buccaneers, and they may have escaped without any major injury issues.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan immediately following Sunday's game told reporters rookie cornerback Renardo Green left the game with a toe injury. Green didn't return to the contest. He was replaced by veteran CB Rock Ya-Sin.
Green started outside with veteran CB Charvarius Ward out for personal reasons. The rookie second-round pick put together a good outing before his injury, including a pass breakup on what would've been a touchdown for Tampa Bay. It looked like he primarily played outside with CB Deommodore Lenoir playing in the slot. Veteran CB Isaac Yiadom started at the other outside CB spot.
While the immediate injury updates are good, it doesn't mean the 49ers are out of the woods just yet.
Shanahan will speak with reporters Monday on a conference call and could have additional news. Sometimes injuries crop up overnight. Wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Jauan Jennings both had injury issues entering the game, and running back Christian McCaffrey made his season debut after missing the first eight weeks with Achilles tendinitis.
All three appeared to get through the game without issue, but we'll get additional info Monday when Shanahan speaks with reporters again.
