Ning Baizura joins "Gegar Vaganza" as tribute to mum with dementia
8 Nov - Ning Baizura recently revealed that she decided on joining the 11th season of Astro's "Gegar Vaganza" for the sake of her mother, Satila Abdullah.
The singer, who will compete with 13 other performers on the show in her first TV appearance in a long time, told the media that her mother is already at an old age and is suffering from dementia.
"I think this is the best time for her to see her daughter on TV. She might not remember the last time I performed on TV, so this is my gift to her," she said.
Ning said that her mother, who was once her manager, has been diagnosed with dementia three years ago, and would sometimes forget things from her memory.
"All I can give her is the best of memories. And this is a part of that," she added.
Aside from Ning, other performers who will be competing on the show include Liza Aziz, Illa Sabri, Sheila Abdull, Ronnie Hussein, Fairuz Selamat, Arrora Salwa, Yazif Lovehunters, Zehra Zambri, The Lima, Inka Christie as well as Dyrga of the Indonesian group Dadali.
