Update the app - Make sure you're using the latest version of the app you're having problems with.

App functionality problems

App is slow, freezes, or crashes

Yahoo apps work best on the latest version of the iOS software. Before trying any of the steps below, check to see if you have the latest version of iOS. If you're using an iOS beta version, try updating to the latest official iOS release.

  1. Force stop and restart the app
    When you force stop an app it refreshes the active memory for the app.
  2. Restart the device
    If you're still having problems with the app after you restart the device, the app could be corrupt.
  3. Uninstall and reinstall the app
    It's possible the app has become corrupt. Install a fresh copy of the app to fix this problem.

Feature unavailable on a mobile device

Sign in problems

Mobile number has changed

If you get a new phone number, but you're still using the same phone, follow these steps.

  1. Go to your Account Security page and click your existing number.
  2. Click Add recovery phone number.
  3. Enter your mobile number in the space provided.
  4. Click Send SMS.
    - Yahoo sends a push notification to your phone.
  5. Enter the code in the space provided.
  6. Click Verify.

App passwords

If you've turned on two-step verification, ODP/Account Key, or if you use a 3rd party email app (like iOS mail or Android Mail) to access Yahoo Mail, you'll need to create an app password specifically for that app. Learn more about app passwords.

Problems with iOS Mail Sign-in
