Add two-step verification for extra security
Enable two-step verification to require a code (in addition to your password) any time a login attempt is made from a new device or browser. If you’re already using Yahoo Account Key to sign in, you’ll need to disable it to enable 2-step Verification.

Use 2-step verification with Yahoo apps
A push notification will be sent to any Yahoo app on your mobile devices.
Enable 2-step for app authentication
- Sign in to your Account Security page.
- Next to "2-Step Verification," click Turn on.
- Select Push notification for your 2-step verification method.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process.

- Open any Yahoo app on your device.
- Click Approve from phone.
- Click Yes, send me a notification.
- Open your app and tap Yes to approve.

Use 2-step with authenticator app verification
Authenticator apps provide secure verification codes that act as the second step in 2-step verification. After entering your password, you'll need to enter the code generated by your authenticator app to sign in.
How do I get an authenticator app?
Download an authenticator app from the Google Play Store or App Store. Popular authenticator apps include Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, LastPass Authenticator, and Authy.

Emergency recovery code - You may given an separate code during sign up in case you can't use the authenticator app. Print or write down this info and keep it safe, but accessible for if you can't use the app.
- Sign in to your Account Security page.
- Next to "2-Step Verification," click Turn on.
- Click Get started.
- Select Authenticator app for your 2-step verification method.
- To see this option, you'll need to have at least 2 recovery methods on your account. - Click Continue.
- Scan the QR code using your authenticator app.
- Click Continue.
- Enter the code shown in your authenticator app.
- Click Done.

Disable 2-step verification on your account
- Sign in to your Account Security page.
- Next to "2-Step Verification," click Manage.
