What's the situation with Outer Banks season 5?
Ever since Outer Banks dropped their first season on Netflix all the way back in 2020, we've been hardcore fans of the series, and could honestly watch 100 more series of the Pogues, but is the show going to return for a season five?
Season four part one just dropped on the streamer last week, featuring a time jump of 18 months and now sees the group searching for Blackbeard's treasure after getting into money troubles of their own.
While we still have the second part of the new season to impatiently wait for, we need to know if these next five episodes will be the last we see of the Pogues or if we can hope for another season. Here's what we know about a potential Outer Banks season five so far.
Has Outer Banks been confirmed for season 5?
As of yet there's been no official confirmation we'll be getting a season five of Outer Banks. However, we shouldn't give up hope just yet.
The second season wasn't confirmed until nearly three months after the release of season one, season's three confirmation came nearly six months after the release of season two, and season four was confirmed just before the third season aired.
So with this in mind it may be a good few months before we hear any solid news of the future of Outer Banks.
What have the cast said about Outer Banks season 5?
During the press tour for the fourth season of Outer Banks, some of the cast touched on thoughts and plans for future seasons.
Chase Stokes and Rudy Rankow were asked if this series was the last by Entertainment Tonight, to which Chase replied: "I think our biggest thing has always been wanting to end the show on a high note. And it’s not about how the plane takes off, it’s how you land it. I just want to make sure we do it justice and I want to make sure that when we do end, whenever that time comes that we end the show the right way."
And Rudy Pankow added, "I think there's still messages to be told but at the same time, it comes down to the writers if they have a good base on how to tell those messages and I think they still do."
This doesn't sound like they're ready to say goodbye to us.

Well this all depends on how the second part of season four wraps up, but ideally we'd expect to see this main group return:

What could happen in Outer Banks season 5?
Again this all depends on how the final part of season four plays out. The first half of the season which arrived on 10th October, ended on the cliff hanger reveal that JJ is in fact the son of Larissa Genrette and Chandler Groff, which means he's technically a Kook.
This news is going to have serious repercussions throughout the next half of the season and depending on how JJ and the others handle this news could then dictate what happens next.
Oh and there's also the small matter of Pope and Sarah escaping the crypt to contend with. So, we're really going to need that part two to drop ASAP.
