Leafs Forward Auston Matthews Will Not Score Versus LA Kings Wednesday

Tuesday has a short four-game slate of NHL games that still give us an opportunity to hopefully start another run on the Pad Stacking Challenge. A solid option presents itself in the LA Kings Toronto Maple Leafs matchup with superstar Auston Matthews.

The near-70 goal scorer is three games into the season and still has no goals to his name. We look at his options for tonight's game as a part of our challenge.

If you aren’t familiar, the Pad Stacking Challenge is an open betting strategy that uses the concept of building our bank and rolling over our profits. We do this by stacking our winnings through well-researched picks given out daily that will hopefully build our bank.

All betting lines are from Bet365 and are subject to change. Hockey is a difficult sport to predict so please gamble responsibly.

Bet: Auston Matthews Under 1.5 points + Leafs Kings Under 7.5 goals (-120)

People are going to be all over the Matthews bets until he scores but many don't know his history versus the strong defensive team that is the LA Kings. In his last 13 games versus the Kings, Matthews has just four goals and five assists for nine points. It's not even a point-per-game average and the Matthews props are always the highest in the league.

The Kings were one of the best defensive teams in the league with a top three goals against average at 2.56 last season. They have continued their success this season with just three goals allowed in their first two games of the season before their shootout with Ottawa.

The Leafs have been strong defensively this season as well with no more than two goals allowed in any game yet this season. This feels like a classic Kings game where they look over the tape of their high-scoring affair versus Ottawa and rework the defence to make this a very low-scoring game. Not to mention, Bet365 has boosted Matthews' odds to score, but their Bet Boosts often end up being traps that frequently miss.

We don't normally suggest parlays but this one fells safe and if we placed a $10 bet on it, we would roll our money into just over $18 in what should be a fairly simple parlay.
