Rugged Devils Forward Wins Big Fight

Let's go streaking.

The New Jersey Devils impressed everyone with their commanding 6-2 victory over the Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers. Jesper Bratt, Jack Hughes, and Stefan Noesen led offensively last night.

But last night featured more than just offense.

Fireworks sparked a few nights ago between Brenden Dillon and Jonah Gadjovich. Last night, Kurtis MacDermid exchanged haymakers with the feisty Gadjovich.

The 30-year-old is in his second season with the Devils. Last year, he only dressed for 16 games, recorded a single assist, and played 4:22 per game.

This year, he's played nine of the team's 20 games. He's averaging more ice time, 5:56, but he has yet to record a point. Despite this, the Devils have a 7-1-1 record with MacDermid in the lineup.

After last night's tilt with Gadjovich, MacDermid is tied with his teammate Dillon for the most fights this season, with three each. The Devils have had the most fights of any other team in the NHL, with 10.

The Los Angeles Kings have nine fights, while the Nashville Predators and the Utah Hockey Club have eight.

The Devils get a day off before taking on the Tampa Bay Lightning in their barn on Saturday night.
