Despite the disappointment, Adesanya did enough to control and win the fight against the 42-year-old challenger via unanimous decision.
Following the bout, Adesanya called out Paulo Costa.
UFC star’s gruesome eye injury
Middleweight Rodolfo Vieira shocked the UFC world on Sunday after overcoming a “destroyed” eye to submit his opponent.
Vieira, fighting on the undercard of Adesanya and Romero at UFC 248, registered his second UFC win after submitting Saparbek Safarov.

But the fight wasn’t straight forward after a hit from Safarov caused blood to flow from Vieira’s left eye, which eventually closed over.
This forced Vieira to go for an early submission because he was worried the fight would be stopped in the stoppage.
