Corey Parker to go up against wife amid new fallout to dramas engulfing Brisbane Broncos

The NRL great will be a direct rival of wife Margaux on Brisbane breakfast radio in 2025.

Corey Parker is set to be pitted against wife Margaux in Brisbane's radio wars, with the Broncos great to join Ian Healy on the SEN breakfast program. Parker, who played 347 games for the Broncos as well as 19 State of Origin games for Queensland and 13 Test matches for Australia, has forged a successful career in the media since his retirement.

He's been working on Fox Sports and SEN radio for a number of years, but he's set to step into the hot seat of breakfast radio in 2025. SEN announced this week that Parker will be replacing veteran media man Pat Welsh as the co-host of SENQ Breakfast alongside Australian cricket legend Healy.

The show, which runs from 6-9am on weekdays, will be rebranded to “Breakfast with Corey Parker and Ian Healy”. It means Parker will go head-to-head with wife Margaux, who co-hosts the Triple M breakfast program alongside Greg Martin and Dan Anstey.

“I’m looking forward to working with Heals and the crew as they are people that I have huge respect for,” Parker said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to bringing in the big-name guests, having strong debate on all the tough topics, and engaging with our passionate audience to deliver a first-class sports show. I couldn’t be more excited for what this show will deliver.”

Welsh has worked in sports media for the better part of 50 years, but has decided to scale back some of his commitments in 2025. He also reads the sport bulletin on 7News in Brisbane.

“It’s the perfect timing for me to take a step back after close to 50 years in the industry,” he said. “It’s not goodbye just yet. I’ll be around to fill in when Corey or Heals take time off.

“I think Corey will be a media star for years to come. Corey’s opinionated, and that’s a good thing, he calls it how he sees it, and I know he’ll be a big hit with the SENQ faithful. You’ll have bona fide legends of Australia’s two favourite sports doing their thing every morning.”

SEN and Triple M have both been caught up in the fallout of the Broncos' disastrous season in 2024. Brisbane hooker Billy Walters refused to return to his usual spot on Triple M after comments made about father and coach Kevin, while Healy was forced to clarify comments he made about Reece Walsh this week.

On Wednesday morning, Healy suggested the Broncos' coaching staff didn't know Walsh wouldn't be attending the game against the Dolphins last weekend. He said: "Reece Walsh didn't go to the game and it was quite unknown to the coaches where he was. So I'm not sure he was given permission not to attend. That would be a breach if that was me (in charge). He's normally a fully engaged character who does go to the games, but not last weekend."

The Broncos later confirmed to Yahoo Sport Australia that Walsh wasn't at the game, but said he was given permission not to attend by coach Kevin Walters. Describing the claims from Healy as "very inaccurate", a club spokesperson said: "Kevvie and Reece both agreed it was best for him to stay home and continue his recovery and be with his family. We were all aware of his whereabouts."

Healy clarified his comments on Thursday morning, saying: “I can correct something about Reece Walsh. He was approved not to go to the game last weekend. But the communication might not have got all the way through the troops. I found out a few weren’t happy that he wasn’t there, but the Broncos contacted me and said it had been approved.”

As for Margaux Parker, she was caught up in the fallout when colleague Martin launched a withering takedown of the Broncos recently. Billy Walters refused to return to the show as a result, and Kevin's wife Narelle rang Margaux to express her disappointment.
