The Beauty Looks Set To Be Huge For SS17

We may only just be packing away the slip dresses and digging out the big knit sweaters and smokey eye palettes ready for the autumn, but the fashion world is already getting its head into the SS17 game.
When it comes to beauty, the classic summer look of dewy complexions, flawless skin, and groomed brows looks set to be high on the agenda, but the early signs suggest designers are offsetting the simple look with a statement lip.
Hot coral pouts with matching nails were on display at Trina Turk’s at New York Fashion Week, while Wendy Nichol went for a plum lip against a Nordic-pale complexion, and Swedish house Studio Heijne gave ghostly pale models a pop cherry lip at Stockholm Fashion Week last month.
Bronzed and beautiful
Models walking for Songzio at the London Menswear Collections showcased the summer’s answer to the classic smokey eye: bronzed shimmering shadow above some strong contouring on the cheeks.

Breezy blondes
The catwalk reports hint that blondes will have more fun next summer. At New York Fashion Week, stylists went for touselled beach waves at the Alexander Wang SS17 At the Sibling show at the London Menswear Collection, the models’ beach-ready tresses and dewy glows complemented the just-off-the-tennis-court style of their clothes (above).

Summer blues
Bold blues look set to make a reappearance on the beauty catwalk for SS17. Models walking for Victoria Beckham in New York wore heavy winged shadow with an accent of royal hues, but it was the Casely-Hayford show at the London Men’s Collections back in May where the bright blue eyes took centre stage. Chunky blocks of colour in a uniform cerulean blue turned heads on the front row, and they’ll turn heads next summer if that rides the wave as the beauty look of choice.

Slick and styled
When it comes to locks, the wet look is back. Dorothee Schumacher’s models wore long, nymph-like tresses parted in the centre, while at Dion Lee the stylists gave the slicked back, wet look with a back-from-beach edge to combine the two hot hair trends. For the girls at the Dior show at Blenheim Palace in May, it was an altogether more sleek affair, with manes streamlined back and not a hair out of place.
