This Stylish, Super Compact Gem Is the Best Plant Storage for Every Room

Wooden countertop with white sink.

The most important thing I always consider when decorating my apartment is how things will fit in the space. Whether it’s something large-scale and functional like a new couch or a small figurine I found while traveling, making sure I have room for these pieces is the key to curating my eclectic home without it feeling cluttered. That said, I consistently fall short of this when it comes to my houseplants.

No matter how many plants I buy (and there have been so many), I always forget an essential detail: The monsteras, pothos, and other varieties never stay the same size. That’s a good problem because it means I’m doing something right as a plant parent — that, or they just really love my sunny Los Angeles apartment. But growing plants aren’t exactly the most space-saving decor items.

Decluttering and downsizing have been major themes in my decorating this year, and, in the case of overgrown houseplants, I’ve had to get creative by either playing hairdresser to my pothos or finding planters that take up as little space as possible. Bookshelves and tabletops are always great for getting plants off the ground and out of the way, too, but earlier this year I found a solution that’s a complete game-changer.

The Urban Outfitters wall-mounted plant stand was recommended to me by a friend (and fellow plant parent) after I asked my community how to display plants in small spaces. I immediately added the gold version to my cart and haven’t looked back since.

This wall planter features a sleek, sturdy mid-century modern design with three circular trays for holding small potted houseplants or other accessories, if you want to mix it up and add some extra visual interest (I displayed a few crystals on mine). Because it’s made from a durable iron, it can support a decent amount of weight. So you don’t have to worry about your pots weighing it down. It’s also easy to keep clean and dust-free, plus it comes in white or silver finishes to match your decor.

The whole piece measures just 9.25” long, 6″ wide, and 18″ tall, so it takes up minimal wall space in a bedroom, living room, or even an empty corner that gets sufficient sunlight. If you’re limited on floor space or just running out of spots to store smaller houseplants, you can’t go wrong with Urban Outfitters’ compact wall-mounted plant stand.
