Reality star Pete Wicks has faced more challenges than just learning his new Strictly dance routine this week, as he shared a video on Tuesday 8 October of him battling through flooded roads in North London on his way to dance rehearsals with his professional partner Jowita Przystal. Taking to Instagram, Pete shared a clip of just how bad the roads were, as his car travelled in deep flood water that came up to the windows as he was driven past a Tesco near Brent Cross.

Pete, who dressed up as George of the Jungle for his Movie Week dance to the theme tune last week, was on his way to the BBC studios during a yellow weather alert for rain and thunderstorms when he filmed the video, which he captioned with the words “Should have got a boat to the studio today,” along with a boat emoji. He also played the song Waves, by Mr Probz, remixed by Robin Schulz, in the background.

London is currently under a 12 hour thunderstorm warning which affects much of the South East, South West, the Midlands and the East, that took effect at 10am on Tuesday. The Met Office has warned that showers and thunderstorms were expected to develop over land during the day, and hail and 40mph winds are also predicted up until 10pm.

TOWIE star Pete and Jowita came third from the bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday night, with Paul Merson and Karen Hauer, and Toyah Willcox and Neil Jones forced to compete in the dance off that led to Toyah and Neil ultimately going home.

Pete, meanwhile, has spoken out about his time on another reality show on TV at the moment, Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. He originally quit the show in 2022, when he knocked himself unconscious and broke his ribs during a challenge, but he returned to the series this year, only to quit again after a particularly daunting task during filming in New Zealand. He was asked to write an emotional letter to his mother, who he saved from a suicide attempt when he was 12 years old.

“I decided that night that I was in too deep,” the Strictly Come Dancing star told The Sun. “I hadn’t prepared for the reading out of the letters," Pete said. "I thought, ‘I need to go and say what I’ve said in this letter to my mum’.” He added that he had no regrets about signing up to do the show, however. “For them, it’s life and death. But it’s a TV show, and I’d reached my limit on a TV show. I’ve got absolutely no regrets about it,” he said.

Pete will return to the Strictly dance floor this week, flood waters notwithstanding, but he has revealed that competing in the dance show is even more challenging than his previous reality series experiences. “It's the toughest by far, I did Celebrity SAS twice and this is harder, it's more intense and it's so far out of my comfort zone,” he recently stated on Loose Women.
