Prince Harry celebrated his milestone 40th birthday last month, reportedly enjoying the big day with friends instead of his wife, Meghan Markle. The Duke of Sussex headed off on a hiking trip with his pals, as sources close to the couple say it was the Duchess who booked the trip for the group.

It comes after Harry has been on a number if solo trips without his wife, including the WellChild Awards in London, Lesotho in South Africa, and New York. Speaking on his ‘decision’ to carry out a number of solo engagements in one go without Meghan by his side, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!: "Maybe it’s better for his kids as well, for him to disappear for a fortnight and then be at home - rather than lots of comings and goings.

"Harry is box office. He’s always had a way with people and crowds and it’s lovely to see him coming into his own with charities and causes that he became involved with many years ago. Married couples don’t have to do everything together.”

However, Mark Borkowski, a PR strategist who has been closely observing Harry and Meghan, told the Daily Telegraph that the "separation" of their work has been happening for some time and suggested Harry may be "going back to basics".

"There has been a separation [of their work] for a while. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to think there's something going on. She has been doing the jam thing, the Martha Stewart play. He seems to be going back to basics.” Mark, who claimed the "star power" they thought they'd have together "didn't work" as they had hoped, added: "They had to change the narrative."

The couple are carving out their own individual paths, each delving into new Netflix projects. Meghan is set to take the lead on a show celebrating culinary arts, gardening , hosting, and friendships, while Harry explores the competitive world of professional polo, aligning with his personal interests.

Meghan was last seen on September 14, a day before Harry’s big day. The pair celebrated the Prince’s birthday as they attended the George Zajfen Tennis Tournament in Los Angeles. The couple made a special appearance at the charity tournament which benefits the Alliance for Children’s Rights in honour of Kelly McKee Zajfen’s late son George and is sponsored by The Archwell Foundation.

Alongside photos from the charity event, posted on Harry’s 40th, Kelly penned: “Harry and Meghan, you have been such a guiding light for our family not just In the way you have shown up in friendship but how you have shown up through the incredible work The Archewell Foundation does everyday.”
