Photos show man proposing to his girlfriend in front of the Milky Way
23-year-old Connor McLaren spent three months planning the perfect proposal.
Silhouetted by the Milky Way in the background, he got down on one knee and proposed to girlfriend of five years, Jaimie McGregor, 29.
The couple, from Perthshire, Scotland, climbed nearby mountain, Glen Lyon, Perth and Kinross, at 3am on 31 March.
The galaxy was most visible around that time, which fortunately coincided with the couple’s five-year anniversary.
They hiked for 40 minutes at 3am in the morning to reach the place McLaren had selected nearby the Praying hand, a rock formation popular with tourists.

McLaren, who is a freelance photographer, set a 10 second timer on his camera and popped the question when he was in shot.
He described his girlfriend as being “totally shocked”.
He said: “I think she was just surprised at how organised it all was. You can’t do it when the moon is out, or in summer when it is too bright, or in winter when it’s below the horizon.”
Surprisingly, McLaren admits that the hardest part of the proposal was “keeping it a secret”.
He said: “It was quite difficult hanging onto the ring and keeping it a secret for two months.”

He bought the ring from the shop McGregor works at when it went on sale. She had her eye on it, so he told her boss of his plans and together they came up with a cover story that an old lady had bought the platinum ring.
McGregor finished by saying it all just “went to plan” on the day. The perfect ending.
