Paddy McGuinnes broke down in tears as he finally crossed the finishing line after his mega Children In Need bike ride - which has been captured for a TV documentary.

The comedian and TV presenter, who started out in Wrexham on Monday, November 11 arrived at his final destination in Glasgow at 10.28am on Friday and was piped in by members of the Lomond School Pipe Band, and Chesney Hawkes performed his classic hit The One and Only.

Paddy was in tears as he told BBC Radio 2's Zoe Balls: "I can't believe it. Coming out of East Kilbride and I were looking at Glasgow, and it was lit up in sunshine. And the streets were lined, I had Sir Tom (Hunter) at the side of me as well. I came around the corner there, what a sight, what a feeling, thank you so much everybody. Wow."

Zoe replied: "You have done this with so much humility, so much humour, so much love, can smell you from here! I love you Paddy."

Paddy, whose epic challenge on a Chopper bike called Patch will be documented in a BBC programme to be aired next week, admitted: "It's a moment in time I will take to my grave, and I will never forget it."

Paddy was then given a medal tracked down by Radio 2's Vernon Kay and his listeners. Earlier this year, when Paddy was on BBC's Who Do You Think You Are? it was revealed that Paddy's grandfather, William McGuinness, joined the Kings Own Royal Lancaster Regiment in 1891 and was later given a medal for his service which they showed on the programme.

As Paddy was presented with that medal he added: “That is amazing - thank you, oh my! Wow, look at that everybody! Oh my days, honestly I'm going to need a couple of weeks in a dark room to process everything."

Zoe revealed to Paddy that the total raised so far from his challenge was £7,556,853, which included a £3m boost from Scottish businessman Sir Tom Hunter.

While Paddy will be needing a huge rest after his mammoth outing, young fans will be able to hear him read the CBeebies Bedtime Story at 6.50pm on Friday, November 15 on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
