Davina McCall's boyfriend gives update after star's brain tumour surgery
Davina McCall's boyfriend Michael Douglas has issued an emotional update about the star's health after she revealed the shock news that she needed brain surgery to remove a tumour. The My Mum, Your Dad host shared a video earlier today (Friday, November 15) explaining she'd discovered a 14mm benign tumour a few months ago and needed surgery, while also asking fans to keep her in their prayers during her recovery period.
Using Davina's official Instagram account this evening, Michael posted an update which said: "Hey all. Davina is out of surgery and according to the surgeon it was textbook! She's currently recovering in ICU as a precaution, as you can imagine she's utterly exhausted. Thanks so much for all the love from everyone on here.. it's powerful stuff, we are super grateful. Michael xx."
Davina's celebrity friends and colleagues were among the first to comment on the update this evening, with Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden writing: "Such a relief, I’ve been thinking about her all day and all of you x". Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman also expressed her relief at the update, adding: "Sending so much love".

Fellow TV and radio star Kate Thornton added to the wellwishes, writing: "So relieved to hear it went well. Thinking of you all and sending love for the speediest of recoveries x," followed by a red heart emoji. Among the hundreds of comments were also words from actress Suranne Jones, radio star Sara Cox, and singer Olly Murs.
Davina's fans were left stunned this morning when, in a pre-recorded video posted to her account by Michael, she said she'd discovered the 14mm benign tumour while giving a talk for a menopause company a few months ago. She said she'd sought out "lots of opinions" after discovering the tumour to help work out the best course of action.
Speaking candidly about the shocking news, Davina said: "A few months ago, I did a menopause talk for a company and they offered me a health scan in return, which I thought I was gonna ace, but it turned out I had a benign brain tumour called a colloid cyst which is very rare. Three in a million. So I slightly put my head in the sand."
At one point the 57-year-old Wimbledon-born star pointed at her head and said, "They go through the top of my head here and through the two halves of my brain to the middle, and get the cyst, take it out, empty it, take it out and Bob's your uncle."
