The Duchess of Cambridge goes sailing across Lake Windermere during Cumbria visit
The Duchess of Cambridge arrived in the Lake District in Cumbria today (21 September) and sailed on Lake Windermere.
Kate met with two Holocaust survivors who were part of a group of hundreds of children known as the “Windermere Children”, who stayed in the lakes in 1945.
The children took part in the visit to help them recuperate after their experience in concentration camps and areas of Nazi Occupied Europe.
Today, (21 September) the Duchess sailed across Lake Windermere with two individuals who had been a part of that group as children, to learn more about their experiences.
It is believed Kate is also set to meet Royal Air Force cadets during her time in the Lake District.
At the opposite end of the country, other members of the Royal Family attended the RHS Chelsea Flower Show taking place this week, to see the Queen's garden and other exhibits at the event.
Princess Anne and the Countess of Wessex were both present yesterday afternoon (20 September) to tour the grounds and see the Queen's Green Canopy Garden.
The garden was established to promote Her Majesty's "Plant a tree for the Jubilee campaign" in honour of her Platinum Jubilee next year. The space was officially opened earlier that same day by Dame Judi Dench ceremonially cutting a large floral garland.
In previous years the Duchess of Cambridge and the Queen herself have attended the Chelsea Flower Show, however this year royals also including Princess Alexandra and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were in attendance.
