Susanna Reid has shared her candid thoughts on Phillip Schofield's recent attempt at a TV comeback in a blunt new interview. The Good Morning Britain presenter, 53, didn’t hold back when asked if she had tuned in to watch Schofield’s latest venture, a survival series on Channel 5, marking his first return to television since leaving This Morning in May 2023.

The two TV stars have worked in close proximity, given that Good Morning Britain and This Morning are both filmed at ITV. However, when asked about Phillip’s show, the presenter’s answer was simple: “I didn’t watch it, and I don’t know him.”

The popular broadcaster's rather scathing remark comes amid ongoing conversations around Phillip’s controversial exit from ITV. The former This Morning host stepped down from his position after admitting to a relationship with a younger colleague, a scandal that led to public scrutiny and strained his on-screen relationship with long-time co-host Holly Willoughby.

Phillip left the daytime show in May last year, and has kept a relatively low profile since the incident - until his most recent TV project. The 62-year-old broadcaster’s new Channel 5 series, which aired in September, saw him navigating the challenges of a remote tropical island, tackling both physical and emotional struggles as part of a soul searching journey.

But, while Phillip may have hoped for a fresh start with this show, Susanna’s brief yet cutting comment suggests that not everyone is willing to embrace his return to the screen. Susanna, who has been in the spotlight herself over the years, is no stranger to the challenges and demands of a high-profile career in television. In the same interview, she also opened up about her experience on Strictly Come Dancing, in which she competed in 2013.

Reflecting on her time on the show, she praised her dance partner, Kevin Clifton, and described the experience as a “different planet” full of sparkle and excitement. Yet, Susanna was quick to acknowledge the more recent bullying controversies surrounding the hit BBC dancing show, expressing sympathy for those who have had negative experiences on it.

The TV star said: “'I think it's really important that if people have had a bad experience that is addressed and they are supported.” Meanwhile, Phillip’s former This Morning co-host, Holly Willoughby, has sparked excitement among fans by teasing her new TV show. The presenter, 43, shared a series of behind the scenes snaps from her TV comeback - an as yet mystery new TV show, describing it as a "night of glorious giggles.”
