Naomi Campbell, 54, breaks silence on death of ex-boyfriend Liam Payne, 31

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has commented on a tribute post following the death of her former boyfriend Liam Payne last week. The supermodel, who is 54, dated Liam for four months when she was 48 and he was 25, with their relationship ending in April 2019. Following a post by Nicole Scherzinger in which Nicole shared a photo with Liam and Kelly Rowland, Naomi commented with two peace doves, a broken heart emoji and prayer hands.

Naomi and Liam became a couple after they celebrated the New Year together in Ghana in 2019, and were then spotted together in London and New York. The pair commented on each other’s social media posts, with Liam describing Naomi as “perfection in a person” and Naomi writing at the time that Liam had “a beautiful soul.”

A source speaking to the Mirror following their split in 2019 confided: "Liam and Naomi had a lot of fun together, they got on well and had a laugh. But it just wasn't meant to be.”

Nicole’s post that inspired Naomi’s comment contained the following heartbreaking caption from the former X Factor judge. She wrote: “I will forever cherish and treasure the time we shared together, from fifteen years ago when One Direction was born, right up until a few weeks ago. It was such a blessing to get to work with you recently. We shared the same love and passion for music and I will forever remember the meaningful and joyful conversations we had.”

She continued: “It’s been so hard to process that you’re no longer here, but I am grateful to have known your kind heart, sweet soul and character. You brought so much joy, light and laughter to the lives of those that truly knew you. I will “miss you” my friend and carry you in my heart. My thoughts and prayer are with your family.”

Her photo featured herself, Liam and Kelly Rowland, who had been filming a new Netflix show called Building The Band just two months ago.The show had the three stars working as judges as talented singers were grouped with musicians from around the country to form bands and compete against each other. No date for the show to be broadcast has been confirmed.

Liam died on Wednesday 16 October at the age of 31, after falling from the third floor of his hotel in Buenos Aires.
