5 of the most inexplicable UFO sightings
The existence of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) has long captured the world’s imagination.
Yet, with US intelligence agencies set to deliver a report on what they say is “unidentified aerial phenomena” to US Congress next month, we could be set to learn a lot more about these otherworldly objects.

The report aims to make public what the Pentagon knows about UFOs and the data analysed from its recorded encounters.
It comes after the Pentagon declassified three videos captured by Navy pilots last year, which saw mysterious objects flying through American airspace.
Former US president, Barack Obama touched on the subject on The Late Late Show with James Corden this week where he confirmed that there are UFO sightings that the government can’t explain.

He said: "What is true, and I'm actually being serious here, is that there's footage and records of objects in the skies that we don't know exactly what they are."
With this in mind, we’ve collated the most inexplicable UFO sightings to date, below.
USS Nimitz Tic-Tac UFO incident
One of the videos released by the Pentagon dates back to November 2004. It was taken in California in the US where US Navy pilot commander, David Fravor recalled seeing “something not from this earth”. The resulting video shows a small oval-shaped vessel moving quickly, and was seen by a separate Navy crew as well.
Rendlesham forest incident
Closer to home, the US Air Force spotted strange lights near Rendlesham forest in Suffolk, England in 1980. In 2015, one of the people who saw the lights, Charles Halt, told the BBC that “whatever was there was clearly under intelligent control”.
F/A-18 Super Hornet Incident
Another video released by the Pentagon shows an unidentified aircraft flying at low altitude that was seen by a member of the Navy. It was spotted on the east coast of the US in 2015.
Kenneth Arnold UFO sighting
The original UFO sighting that caused mass interest in the subject. In 1947 in Washington, US, pilot Kenneth Arnold claimed to have seen nine “circular-type” objects flying in formation which led to the creation of the flying saucer in pop culture. Despite criticism, he maintained this is what he saw until his death in 1984.
Aguadilla airport incident
In April 2013, a video was taken in Puerto Rico that shows an unidentified aircraft flying low across the Rafael Hernandez Airport runway in Aguadilla. The infrared video shows the aircraft travelling without lights and, at some points, below treetop level.
