This Morning star terrified after being 'asked at last minute' to go on I'm A Celeb
Gyles Brandreth revealed he was asked to join last year's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! cast as a last-minute addition, but would never do the show because he is terrified of it. The latest series of the ITV reality hit fronted by Ant and Dec is due to launch on Sunday 14 November and will see another group of celebrities sent to live in an Australian jungle camp where they will take on daring challenges.
Speaking about the series on This Morning in October last year, Gyles admitted that he had been asked a number of times to take part over the years - including earlier that week. But the broadcaster said that viewers would be unlikely ever to see him head Down Under for I'm A Celeb as he finds the whole thing terrifying, and is even scared of the rope bridge leading into camp.
This Morning host Dermot O'Leary showed the teaser for the new series on the show at the time and asked: "Would you ever do it Gyles?" Gyles said: "I was asked again this year."

His co-stars encouraged him to sign up, as Alison Hammond asked: "Why don't you do it Gyles?" and Sonia Sodha added: "I'd love to see you in it."
Offering some inside gossip on the series, Gyles said: "What is interesting is that they obviously had a space at the last minute because I was asked again only this week, so maybe somebody dropped out and they were desperate."
Alison pushed him to say yes, telling him: "It would never be boring." But Gyles explained why it would never happen, saying: "I'd be terrified. They drop you in by air and you walk along that little bridge...not for me."
Gyles is a regular contributor to This Morning and is also popular with Gogglebox viewers as a guest on the celebrity version.
Paris Fury also told how she had been asked to sign up to the I'm A Celebrity cast just days after giving birth to her seventh child.
She told Lorraine: " I actually got a call recently just a couple of days ago and they said: 'I know she's just had a baby' and, by the way, the baby was about five days old. They said: 'But would she consider coming to the jungle in the next few weeks?'. I was like 'No. No, no no'."
Entrants to the jungle this year include Loose Women's GK Barry and Jane Moore, footie WAG Coleen Rooney, McFly singer Danny Jones and former Strictly Come Dancing pro Oti Mabuse.
