This Morning star emotional as they reveal terminal cancer diagnosis on live TV with 'weeks to live


Trevor Sorbie appeared on This Morning to reveal his heartbreaking terminal cancer diagnosis to hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley. The renowned international hairdresser, 75, emotionally explained he had bowel cancer and has been given weeks to live.

Ben and Cat were visibly moved by Trevor's story, as he sat with his wife and detailed how his nightmare had begun when he "lost a lot of blood" and went to the doctor.

He told viewers: "I lost a lot of blood one night and was unusually disturbed so went to hospital. They told me I had bowel cancer and I had a little panic attack. I looked at Carole [his wife] and she looked at me, we were both speechless, didn’t know what to say. So I went and had a big gin and tonic."

Carole emotionally continued: "It then spread to his liver and he had a six and a half hour operation, he came back and he had another six and a half hour operation."

Trevor was appointed an MBE in 2004 and is a four-time British Hairdresser of the Year winner. During his impressive five-decade long career, he has styled the hair of the Queen, Lorraine Kelly, Robbie Williams and Helen Mirren among many others.

Trevor previously opened up about heartbreakingly having "five cancers in three years" and how his treatment, including chemotherapy, how a side effects meant a loss of feeling in his fingers.

In 2023, the stylist to the stars opened up on his diagnosis: “When you do hair, you feel the hair – it’s the material that you feel, the quality of it, the thickness, the curl, and I can’t do that any more. But I go around and say, ‘Excuse me, madam,’ and I start talking to them. We have such friendly chats.”

Trevor left school in Paisley at aged 15 to escape being bullied and started working at his dad’s barber shop. He went on to hairdressing college in London, then worked his way up in the industry before opening his very own salon.

His iconic styles - including the wedge, the wolf man and the scrunch – were hugely popular in the 1970s and 80s, and allowed Trevor to begin collecting a celebrity client list, including Paul McCartney and Vivienne Westwood. Throughout his career, he also is a well-known face on TV and made a fortune from his personal range of haircare products.
