Models wearing nothing but black tape hit NYFW catwalk
Fashion comes in many forms, and one of those forms is minuscule strips of black tape – apparently.
Just ask guests at the Black Tape Project’s show at New York Fashion Week on Sunday, which saw models storm the runway in only barely-there strips of strategically-placed duct tape.
We have one overriding reaction to seeing the photos: OUCH.
The eye-catching runway showcased the designs of fashion graduate Joel Alvarez’s, which featured swimsuits and underwear, made entirely out of adhesive strips of tape.
The designs saw the use of tape carefully covering the models’ modesty in a variety of bondage-style ensembles.
Other models wore pieces of metallic tape places careful to create a shattered glass-effect, while others we more, *cough*, ‘covered’ wearing Hawaiian skirts with their body tape looks.
The show is the second in the Black Tape Project series, which kicked off in June at Miami Swim Week, where models rocked swimsuit made entirely out of – you guessed it – tape.
Alvarez says on his website: “Some consider me the founder or a pioneer of the Genre Body Tape art.
“Because of my concepts I’ve been able to travel to over 36 countries and counting, I’ve been published in countless magazines, worked with directors and recording artists like Rick Ross and some of the top DJs in the world.”
Side note: we’re here for these models’ confidence.
