Michelle Obama shows off sartorial prowess in British label palmer//harding
Michelle Obama became a true style icon during her time as First Lady.
Used to promoting younger talents along with more established designers, the 53-year-old is now free to move away from her obligatory American tastes to take on British fashion.
On Friday, the former First Lady donned a striped asymmetrical shirt by British design duo palmer//harding.

The blue-and-white striped design featured a waterfall hem and is available to buy for £455.
Levi Palmer and Matthew Harding – the pair behind the shirting label were only too happy that Michelle’s stylist approached them.

“Michelle has always embodied the idea of the perfect palmer//harding customer: confident and modern yet timeless,” they told Yahoo Style UK. “We’re huge fans of her style and also believe in her support of healthy food. For her to be wearing palmer//harding while discussing such an important issue to us is simply amazing.”
The pair recently won the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund. They may well need their £100,000 prize if the Michelle effect hits them.

Proving that she knows her stuff, Michelle paired the sophisticated yet fun style with a bang-on-trend leather corset belt to the health summit in Washington.
She finished off her smart look with a simple pair of black tailored trousers and matching heels.
During her speech, Michelle spoke about the importance of nutritious school lunches, emphasising how children’s health in the US should be a higher priority.
