Meghan Markle shows off engagement ring, poses alongside Prince Harry for first time
Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle have posed for their official engagement photos.
Appearing in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace, the royal couple posed in front of photographers with Meghan showing a quick glimpse of her engagement ring.
The 36-year-old star chose a stark white belted coat by Line the Label, a forest green Parosh dress and suede nude Aquazzura heels while the 33-year-old royal went for a blue suit.
Meghan’s ring features three diamonds: a big central one from one of Harry’s favourite countries, Botswana as well as two outside stones from the personal collection of Princess Diana. It was designed by the Prince himself.
Set on a gold band, it was made by Cleave and Company, Court Jewellers and Medallists to Her Majesty the Queen.
Reporters asked the couple a number of questions but were met with short and swift replies.
When asked how he proposed, Harry replied: “That will come later.”
Another journalist asked if it was romantic to which the royal simply said: “Of course it was.”
Harry said he was “thrilled” to be engaged while Meghan said she was “very happy.”
The crowd then asked her to show off her ring.
The couple announced their engagement at 10am on Monday morning, revealing that Harry had proposed earlier this month.
They will be taking part in a broadcast interview with the BBC‘s Mishal Husain that will be aired on the news channel at 6pm tonight.
