First, during the bygone days of the digital camera, there was the ‘duck face’. Then thanks to a rather influential woman called Kim Kardashian, this was rapidly overtaken by the ‘fish gape’ last year.
You know the look we’re talking about – the one that elongates your face and has a high-fashion look about it.
And now, according to Glamour, there’s a new selfie trick in town: The ‘hair twirl’.
Sure, we’ve all played with our hair on camera before. But usually in a still shot, and we can tell that the hair twirl is the future because it involves video.

Kylie Jenner – of course – was one of the first celebrities to jump aboard, using her black blunt bob to give us the epitome of hair envy.
And Jennifer Lawrence gave a more subtle version of the twirl herself.

It’s a fierce way to use Instagram’s brilliant Boomerang app too, so you and your hair can keep twirling for eternity.
And what better way to show off your new on-trend bob or lob – while showing off a few more angles of your face while you’re at it?

Plenty of Instagrammers are trying the trick for themselves too.

Perhaps it’s time to join the hair-twirling party ourselves.
