Kim Kardashian's new Skims swim gloves causing quite the buzz: 'Never been so confused'
Kim Kardashian has launched a new addition to her SKIMS range and the unusual item seems to have confused and delighted fans in equal measures.
The new SKIMS Swim collection dropped last Thursday, featuring new colourways and unexpected designs - but there's one particular item that has been causing quite the buzz on social media.
A pair of swim gloves, costing £36, already appear to be sold out in each of the seven different colours and sizes online.
"Instantly elevate your swim look and make a sexy splash everywhere you go with these trendsetting swim gloves,” the website description reads. “Perfect to pair with any swim style for a ready-to-wear look.”
The gloves are created from the same “stretchy swim fabric” as the Skims swimming costumes and therefore safe to go in water.

Despite the popularity of the gloves online, there was some confusion on social media with some questioning the need to wear elbow-length gloves in the water.
"Not Kim K releasing SWIM GLOVES I literally have been so confused the entirety of 2022," one user wrote.

“Can someone explain to me what swim gloves are and why,” someone else posed.
Others questioned whether wearing gloves might have an interesting impact on a sun tan, with one person noting that the gloves could potentially leave “the gnarliest tan lines”.
"kim k’s new swim gloves, brought to you by the worst tan lines you’ll ever have in your life," another agreed.

But others were totally enamoured with the idea of wearing swim gloves on holiday.
"I am absolutely losing my mind over the new @skims swim drop," one fan wrote.
"I’m a sucker for anything high neck and long sleeved. And swim gloves? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I will take one of everything thank youuuu."

Further swim glove advocates were those who were living with skin conditions including vitiligo.
"People think @KimKardashian lost her mind with these swim gloves. I see a woman with an autoimmune skin condition hacking fashion to protect her skin," one user wrote.
"As a woman with #vitiligo who’s always at the pool, I’m so down with these @skims gloves. Might even join the wait list."

In an interview discussing the collection Kardashian told Vogue the idea behind the range was to blur the line between swimwear and everyday clothes.
"The concept of wearing swim in the water or at the beach is a given," she told the publication, "but I would constantly think: What am I wearing beyond that while lounging by the pool, boating with kids, doing water sports, or going out to dinner on vacation?"
"My idea has always been to bridge that gap between in and out of water and create a complete wardrobe of options," Kardashian added.
