When decorating your space with IKEA products, there’s often a little DIY involved, whether it’s unboxing and assembling a new cabinet or trying out a viral decor hack. The Swedish company makes personalizing your home on a budget totally feasible. And earlier this year it cranked that customization factor up a notch with the introduction of its precut fabric collection.

As someone who sews and crochets, I’m no stranger to making my own textiles. While I usually source materials from JOANN or Spoonflower, I love what IKEA’s bringing to the table here. The new precut fabric line features a collection of 16 fun, colorful prints you can use to create all kinds of home decor items, including window treatments, accent pillows, and even some tabletop linens like runners and napkins.

When I first saw the IKEA Precut Fabric collection, I was immediately obsessed and knew I needed to get my hands on some of it for upcoming home decor DIYs. With prices ranging from $9.99 to $19.99, it’s one of the best deals on upholstery fabric I’ve ever seen, too.

I initially bought the FLUGBLOMSTER and the TAGGKÖRVEL patterns and plan to use them as part of a needlepoint pillow project I’m working on (those stripes would look so good as a pillow with a big ruffled trim). However, you get so much fabric in each bundle — about 5 yards’ worth — so I’ll have plenty left over to try a few other home decor trends, like the fabric-covered picture frames I’ve seen all over TikTok.

I’m also considering recovering my antique kitchen chairs and think a pop of color from one of these IKEA prints or mixing and matching fabrics for a more colorful and whimsical approach would look so cute.

If you need more ideas, here are some other popular ways people are using the IKEA Precut Fabric rolls, which all measure 59×118 inches.

Window Treatments

One of the best (and more obvious) uses for the IKEA fabric is curtains, Roman shades, or valances using just one or two bolts. You can go all in with mix-and-match prints throughout the windows in your space. Or if the colorful patterns are a bit too much for your liking, try the all-white fabric and then create custom tiebacks from the more vibrant textiles.

Pillows and Bedding

The IKEA fabric isn’t the softest, so I don’t recommend using it for a duvet cover. But you could still incorporate the material into your space through custom fabric accent pillows or a quilted throw blanket.

Furniture Upholstery

Depending on how crafty you want to get, consider using the fabric to recover some furniture. I love the idea of redoing kitchen chair cushions in the TAGGLUSERN gingham print, but it’s also perfect for elevating stools, benches, headboards, and ottomans. Any of the fabrics can even be cut like a tablecloth to fit over a small square side table, like IKEA’s LACK pictured above.

Table Linens

There’s something so special about handmade table linens, and IKEA’s fabric is durable enough to DIY runners, place mats, and even napkins. Take things a step further and cover a small vase in fabric as a colorful tabletop centerpiece, too. Or, try the solid white DITTE fabric, which you could totally hand-dye yourself for even more personalization.

Holiday Decor

Another fun way to incorporate these prints into your space is through year-round holiday decor. Convert the materials into all kinds of fun seasonal items, including a fabric pumpkin, a quilted Christmas pillow, a stocking, or even gift wrap.
