Jennifer Lawrence has joined the latest carousel of celebrity haircuts, debuting a sophisticated curtain fringe for the AFI FEST 2024 in Hollywood last night. The actor retired her signature cohesive blonde lengths in favour of a set of wispy tapered bangs for the occasion. The new look is not too dissimilar to the star's appearance in the 2012 film Silver Linings Playbook, for which Lawrence won the Academy Award for Best Actress (though the red-carpet iteration of the hairstyle is undoubtedly sleeker and more polished).

Lawrence, who recently announced her second pregnancy, paired her fresh hairstyle with soft monochromatic make-up in a nude beige hue and a striking black eyeliner detail. In terms of fashion, the 34-year-old opted for an off-the-shoulder white Dior dress with a belt cinched over her growing bump, styled with simple black pumps.

While a classic, straight fringe is usually detached from the rest of the hair, a curtain fringe is gradually blended into its surrounding lengths, giving a softening, face-framing effect to your features. It typically features a centre-parting and begins at brow-level, trimmed diagonally towards the cheekbone. The best part? Whether you're sporting a choppy bob or tousled full tresses, the flattering style works well across multiple hair textures and can be customised to suit most haircuts.

The curtain fringe has been spotted in various iterations across the red carpet this year, from Sabrina Carpenter's voluminous vintage curtains to Dakota Johnson and Daisy Edgar-Jones' more effortless, wispy takes on the trend.
