Is It Ever Okay To Leave Your Baby Alone In A Car?

In the latest instalment of The Internet, people are very angry after one Mumsnet contributor found a six month year old baby alone in a car.
User RosieandJim89 said that her husband had discovered the child while he was out shopping and informed a store manager, who called the police. She asked: ‘why are people still doing this?’

At first, the overall reaction was outrage. One user pinkieandperkie recalled witnessing one child she’d seen who ‘managed to let the hand brake off’ when alone in a car for two minutes, while ThumbWitchesAbroad said ‘it’s ridiculous how hot the inside of cars get in even moderate sun.’

But soon the discussion developed further: Is it ever acceptable to leave your baby in a car?
Leaving children to get petrol - if they are still in eyesight - is usually considered as fine, user WellErrr pointed out.

And what if you take other precautions?

As user Lucked also said, since we’re not exactly blessed with scorching heat here in the UK: ‘are we really saying a baby was going to expire/overheat today?’
