The internet loses it after Netflix uses the wrong Marie Kondo image
Netflix’s brand new series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo has been the answer to many kicking off their 2019 just right – and if you haven’t seen it, you’re definitely missing out.
In the series Marie Kondo, author of The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, introduces many families in the USA to the realm of decluttering with her mantra of “sparking joy” – if the item doesn’t spark joy, it’s time to say goodbye.
Those watching the series are normally introduced with a sweet image of Japanese organisation consultant Marie when logging into Netflix. Something resembling the picture above.
However, the other evening some were in for quite a surprise when they saw Marie Kondo’s vibe had changed. The image promoting the show was not of a sweet Marie, but a gunman holding an AK-47 in the desert.
The fault was pointed out by William Hanson on Twitter, who wrote: “Either there’s a Netflix glitch or Marie Kondo’s methods have escalated”.

Since then the tweet has gone viral – with over 50,000 retweets and 200,000 likes – and people are totally losing it over Marie Kondo’s new “methods”.
Of course, the memes shortly followed.
