Inside a $57 Million Penthouse at London’s Ultra-Posh Chelsea Barracks
London’s Chelsea Barracks, in the natty Belgravia district, famously housed the British Royal Army for 150 years before it was converted into a sprawling complex of luxury apartments and townhouses. This summer, an all-new structure at 9 Mulberry Square was unveiled with 48 residences by Eric Parry Architects that range from one-bedroom units to mansion-sized penthouses. The building’s first penthouse to come to market has been listed with a eye-watering $57 million price tag, and Robb Report got an exclusive look inside. Knight Frank holds the extraordinary listing.
Chelsea Barracks tapped Studio Atkinson for the two-story penthouse’s design, which prioritizes “wellness in the sky,” according to a statement. Beyond its slightly more than 6,000 square feet of living space, the expansive outdoor terrace is where key amenities tied to the incentive come into play, like an ice bath and a sauna. While there’s more to explore out on the terrace, the home’s interiors also offer five bedrooms and a number of living areas suited to families and health enthusiasts alike.

A marble staircase in the foyer loops its way to the upper level against a bold red color splashed across the walls. The living room stands further ahead with floor-to-ceiling windows that slide open to the terrace. Its walls are dressed in a shade of willow green that evokes a feeling of calm. In the clean-lined kitchen, the marble countertop waterfalls over the snack bar island alongside wooden cabinetry.

Elsewhere, the formal dining room breaks the ice with its herringbone floors and orange moiré wallpaper that gives off a funky psychedelic vibe, while a pastel pink sofa brings energy to the primary bedroom suite that includes a marble-clad bathroom, where the quirky floral wallpaper and unobstructed skyline views are its most eye-catching features. In addition to its printed drape choices and floral-themed light fixtures throughout, the British design firm sourced a number of antiques for the home, including a chinoiserie-style tall boy that was scored at a Dreweatts auction.
Back out on the terrace, along with the barrel sauna and redwood ice bath, you can grow herbs in a dedicated garden area and whip up meals on the built-in barbecue grill alongside the bar area and alfresco dining and lounging spaces.
Residents also gain access to the building’s 33,000-square-foot Garrison Club at Grenadier Gardens. Here, the multi-sports hall allows you to play on a championship tennis court, plus access the swimming pool and partake in a slate of holistic wellness programs.
