Who doesn’t love Ikea? There’s a selection of handy, argument-sparking flat-pack furniture, and those washing up brushes with little plungers on them.
But we all know the best thing about a visit to Ikea is ordering their delicious, delicious meatballs at one of their restaurants. The only catch is that if you live in London, actually getting to an Ikea can be a mission indeed.
Fear not, Londoners - your time has come, as Ikea has announced that it is opening a pop-up cafe, shop and DIY dining club in the capital.
You can probably guess where it’ll be located - Shoreditch. The main space at the N&C Showrooms on the high street will be dedicated to the DIY restaurant, where you can invite up to 20 friends to a do-it-yourself dinner party aided by an Ikea chef.

“Calling all kitchen novices, wannabe-cooks and fine-diners alike, The Dining Club by IKEA is here to celebrate the joy of cooking together,” Ikea’s Dining Club website says.
“Open from Saturday 10th September to Sunday 25th September, The Dining Club features a DIY restaurant where you’re the chef, an IKEA cafe serving Swedish delicacies, inspiring workshops, a virtual reality kitchen and a unique shop so you can take home a piece of the experience.“
From the 10th to 25th isn’t very long, so you’d better book soon.
As well as the DIY restaurant there’ll also be a classic Ikea cafe open between 10am and 10pm, as well as one of our favourite venues: An Ikea shop.
