Huw Edwards' wife has filed for divorce following his child-abuse images conviction. TV producer Vicky Flind, mother of the 63-year-old’s five children, launched proceedings to end their 30-year marriage after she kicked him out of the family home, according to The Sun. The pair were married for 30 years and share five children. The disgraced BBC newsreader, 63, was given six months imprisonment, suspended for two years, in September after he pleaded guilty to having made indecent images of children.

The sentence came after father-of-five was arrested in November 2023 following the findings of South Wales Police that he had been involved in a sick WhatsApp conversation with convicted paedophile Alex Williams, 25. The felon was said to have sent Edwards 41 images of child abuse between December 2020 and August 2021. Seven of the indecent images were Category A, which is the worst category of its kind.

The news comes just hours after reported Edwards put up his £4.75 million home in London up for sale. It was the home he shared with his family as Vicky and Edwards purchased the property in 2006 for £1.85m. The six-bedroom property is described as a 'substantial detached mid century family house' in south London.

A source said “Vicky had enough of Edwards a long time ago but this is the final nail in the coffin of their relationship. He’s put her and their family through hell, so this was inevitable. Unsurprisingly, they separated a long time ago and Edwards has been living elsewhere, but it is now official. Vicky is not talking to him and they now only communicate via lawyers.”

The couple reportedly first crossed paths when Huw was cutting his teeth as a BBC correspondent in Westminster, before they married in 1993. It was Vicky who stepped forward last year to name Huw as the man embroiled in the allegations, issuing a statement on his behalf that highlighted his "serious mental health issues". She said: "I am doing this primarily out of concern for his mental well-being and to protect our children."

Huw once opened up about his family life and the secret to nailing parenting by the time you reach kid number five. Chatting with The Guardian, he shared: "There's a principle that your youngest child gets a far better crack of the whip than your eldest." He continued: "All your anxieties and inexperience and cluelessness as a parent are taken out on your eldest child. By the time you get to your youngest, in my case number five, you're a brilliant parent. So if you could give a parent all the patience and knowledge that they would have with their second or third child or whatever to the first, that's the one piece of advice I'd give."

He was determined to pass on the Welsh language to his kids, despite his spouse not being a speaker. Sharing with Wales Online, he said: "I was able to concentrate a lot of time on my eldest two children who have got a good level of understanding in Welsh but the others less so. Three of my sons are linguists actually and I've got a daughter who is a linguist."

"Their facility to speak, pronounce and understand, it's quite good but what you won't get is a fluent conversation... They talk frequently to my mum who is back in Llanelli and they are very aware of the heritage of my dad and the fact he was such a big figure in Welsh language culture and are very proud of that."
