One of 29 examples built, this neglected Mercedes-Benz 300 SL “Alloy” Gullwing will cross the RM Sotheby’s auction block with no reserve.

Lightweighting measures, such as its aluminum body and Plexiglas for the rear and side windows, contributed to the model variant weighing about 209 pounds less than the standard 300 SL.

Once purchased by Rudi Klein, the car was never driven or exhibited, remaining largely in the same building for nearly 50 years.
