Emma Thompson accepts damehood wearing trainers, equal pay badge and trouser suit
Emma Thompson reminded us why she’s our go-to style muse this afternoon, as the actress eschewed tradition to receive her damehood.
The 59-year-old gave Kate and Meghan lessons in regal chic with a double-breasted co-ord and navy-hued top for the Buckingham Palace trip. For extra sartorial points, Thompson even opted for a relaxed (floor-grazing) fit.
In a Phoebe Philo-inspired move, the actress teamed the ensemble with a pair of box-fresh trainers – a fashion move we would love to hear Her Majesty‘s thoughts on.
Letting her suit do the talking, she kept make-up minimal with a slicked-back hairdo to finish.
If that isn’t enough to garner her look gram-worthy status, Thompson collected her regal accolade wearing a badge for the Fawcett Society – which raises awareness for equal pay.
Today, she was recognised for her three decade-long services to drama having won two Oscars, two Golden Globes and three BAFTAs over the course of her career.
Thompson collected the honour from the Duke of Cambridge with her husband Greg Wise, daughter Gaia and adopted son, Tindyebwa Agaba, by her side.
Yet despite her successful career, the actress confessed to feeling shy around Prince William revealing: “I love Prince William. I’ve known him since he was little, and we just sniggered at each other. I said, ‘I can’t kiss you, can I?’ And he said, ‘No don’t!'”
Just when we thought it wasn’t possible to love her more than we already do…
