Duchess of Cambridge fans go wild for royal's latest day look: 'A true style icon'

The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in an edgier-than-usual dress for a fashion event on Wednesday and fans have been quick to comment on how much they love the satin midi dress.
Kate, 40, opted for the £785 teal-green dress, which featured belt detailing and bows at the sleeves, by British-Canadian designer Edeline Lee to present the Queen Elizabeth Award for British Design at the Design Museum in Kensington.
The teal green pebbled textured fabric added an unexpected edge to the high-necked midi dress, whilst the gold belted buckle cinched in the duchess’ waist.

The tie detailing on the sleeves added a feminine touch and the teal green colour suits Kate to a tee.
Fans were quick to take note of the slightly unusual style for the duchess. “She took a risk and I like it!” one user wrote underneath a photo of Kate on Instagram, whilst another agreed and chimed in: “Love this look, the green is perfect!”
The duchess completed her look with an Emmy London clutch, dark velvet court shoes, and golden drop earrings by Nadia Irena.

"The dress looks great on Kate, she looks very modern!" wrote a fan of the duchess' outfit, whilst another declared that the mum-of-three is "a true style icon".
Edeline Lee founded her eponymous label in 2014 after graduating from Central Saint Martins. Since, she's found fans in a number of celebrities including Amanda Holden, Emma Willis, Helen Skelton, Ellie Goulding and Helen Mirren, so it's only fitting that Kate would add the British-Canadian designer to her royal wardrobe.
The duchess had her hair in its signature blowdry and fans were quick to comment on how glossy it looked. "Hair envy!" one Instagram user wrote, whilst another commented on the middle-part/side-part debate: Does this mean we all have to do the centre part now? Looks so good on her!"
The Duchess of Cambridge was at the Design Museum in Kensington to present the Queen Elizabeth II Award to an emerging designer on behalf of Her Majesty, so it makes sense that she would be looking to wear something a bit different.
The recipient of this year’s award at the fashion-filled event, where British Vogue editor Edward Enninful was also in attendance, was British-Guyanese designer, Saul Nash.
The Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design aims to recognise the cultural and trade role the British design and fashion industry has played throughout the monarch's reign.
