Tom Ford Adds More Fuel To The Fire, In The Feud With Donald And Melania Trump

Rewind to this time last year and Tom Ford had caused intense fury in the Oval Office, by making it clear that he had no intentions whatsoever of dressing First Lady Melania Trump.

He first spoke out on The View. 'I was asked to dress her quite a few years ago and I declined. She's not necessarily my image,' he said, adding that he is a Democrat and voted for Hillary. Either way, he claimed his clothes are 'too expensive' for a first lady to wear.

Ford later elaborated to ELLE.com on the Golden Globes red carpet: 'Whoever is the president, or the first lady, should be wearing clothes at a price point that are accessible to most Americans, and wearing clothes made in America. My clothes are made in Italy, they're very, very expensive. I don't think most women or men in our country can relate to that, and I think the first lady or the president should represent all people.'

Donald Trump then responded on a Fox & Friends interview, claiming Melania never asked Ford to dress her. '[She] never asked Tom Ford, doesn't like Tom Ford, doesn't like his designs,' the president-elect said. 'I'm not a fan of Tom Ford, never have been.'

He then claimed Wynn Resorts CEO Steve Wynn 'just called me and he said he thought it was so terrible what Tom Ford said, that he threw his clothing out of his Las Vegas hotel.'

Interestingly enough, there was no Tom Ford clothing store at the Wynn Las Vegas (though the hotel does stock his beauty products).

Now, in the AW18 season, Tom Ford has added fuel to the fire with his most recent runway show.

In a catwalk presentation which was a show of his usual luxury and excess and featured celebrity royalty (and their offspring - ahem, Kaia Gerber), Tom Ford sent one particular design down the runway which was nothing short of incendiary.

A nod to his support of the #MeToo movement, Tom Ford included a handbag in his show, emblazoned with the slogan 'Pussy Power.'

Not just a nod to women's rights in general though, the bag is also a direct reference to Donald Trump's Access Hollywood scandal, during which a tape recording was leaked to the public, showing Donald Trump boasting about being able to 'Grab [women] by the pussy' and do anything else he liked because of his fame.

Tom Ford's handbag is clearly a message about women reclaiming dominion over their sexual rights, a show of solidarity for those who were victimised at the hands of men like Trump.

We're sure this is likely spark further fury from the White House, but hey, what doesn't Trump get his knickers in a twist about?
