This is the dirtiest drink to order at a pub
You might be pretty aware of how sticky the floors are when you walk into a pub - and if a glass needs a clean, you won't bat an eyelid asking for another, but what if we told you that there's a hidden part of the pub that could be making your drinks dirty, would you know where to look?
No, we're not talking about the kitchen, but an area of the pub that may not be subject to regular inspections - the beer lines that connect to the barrels in the cellar, to the pumps at the bar.
Cask Marque, an independent accreditation scheme, surveyed 22,000 of the nation's pubs in person and used 220,000 smart devices on the beer taps to decipher just how clean the drink passing through to the customer really was, the Independent reported.
According to the report, the drink that was most frequently served through 'unclean' lines was cider, with 44% not up to the Cask Marque standards. EW.
Lager didn't fare much better with 35% of drinks found to be drawn through dirty lines.
Cask Marque told The Morning Advertiser: “Consumers today expect good retail standards and this has added to the demands on the pub.
“We have now got a lot of fast food outlets that are competing with pubs and so are coffee shops, only their standards are higher and pubs need to catch up.
“But that's not to say that there aren't pubs out there with higher standards than their competitors.“
