Davina McCall's partner has released an encouraging update on the the presenter and menopause campaigner's condition, after her shock brain surgery on Friday.

In a post shared on Instagram, celebrity hairdresser Michael Douglas said: 'Update - Mega progress these last 24 hours. Massive relief to see some light breaking through. Thanks for all the good vibes coming in from all angles. Up and Up ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Michael. Xxx'

The caption then read: 'Update folks. Thanks so much to all the well wishers. ❤️❤️❤️ She really has made an enormous leap forward in the last 24 hours. She is out of ICU. She is “loving awareness” ❤️🌈🪐🌎💥💕 Thank you xx Michael.'

Michael, who has been in a relationship with Davina since 2019, shared a video of the star to her Instagram page last week. Here, the 57-year-old said that has a 'very rare' colloid cyst and would need to have an operation to remove it. She was only made aware of the tumour due to a health scan. A colloid cyst is a benign, or non-cancerous, brain tumour and may cause headaches, vomiting and visual disruptions.

'I slightly put my head in the sand for a while, I saw a few neurosurgeons, had quite a lot of opinions and realised I needed to take it out. It's quite big, it's 14mm wide and it needs to come out because if it grows it would be bad. I'm having it removed. Say a prayer for me. I'm in good spirits,' she said online, confirming that Michael would be taking over her account while she underwent the operation. She expected to be in hospital for around nine days.

After the surgery, he told fans that she was in recovery in another post over the weekend, updating with: 'Hey all. Davina is out of surgery and according to the surgeon it was textbook! She's currently recovering in ICU as a precaution, as you can imagine she's utterly exhausted. Thanks so much for all the love from everyone on here..it's power stuff, we are super grateful Michael xx'

Wishing Davina the speediest recovery.
