The “So Cute” $15 Target Mushroom Lamp I’m Buying Is Going to Sell Out

I’m a huge fan of Halloween and Christmas, and I love to decorate for both. I live in an apartment in Brooklyn without a lawn, trick-or-treaters, or space for a large tree to coat in spiderwebs, which means I have to get creative — but that’s the fun of it all! And I’m one of those people who believes it’s never too early to start celebrating.

If it were up to me, “spooky season” would begin September 1, and the winter holidays on November 1. Thanksgiving, though? Well, let’s just say I wouldn’t really miss it. I’m not a fan of turkey or football, and because I don’t usually host, there’s not much to decorate for. But Target’s latest collection with New York City-based decoupage artist John Derian just changed all of that for me.

I’ve been a fan of John Derian for quite some time. One of my favorite holiday traditions is to visit his shop on East 2nd Street to pick up an ornament each year for my Christmas tree, along with some puzzles to give as gifts. The artist’s vintage-inspired, eclectic, and whimsical merchandise is so distinctive and timeless, and the holiday decor is no exception. So I was thrilled to discover his line of affordable Halloween decor with Target — but I only recently learned about the new Thanksgiving collection!

This assortment features over 40 new pieces geared mostly towards entertaining, including adorable melamine serving pieces, stoneware, and drinkware. Textiles are another core category, too — there’s even a beaded turkey pillow! My favorite item though? This adorable little rechargeable mushroom table lamp, perfect for my new (and dimly-lit) dining room table.

I’m noticing these little rechargeable portable lamps everywhere these days. When I first saw them in my favorite restaurant, I decided to pick up a few for my home, one for my dining room table (to add to the ambiance when I don’t feel like dealing with candles) and one for my vanity, which isn’t near any outlets. They’re hugely convenient, but I’ve never seen one as cute as this.

This little mushroom lamp is the perfect whimsical touch for any space. The pop of red is a super-fun and an easy way to try out the unexpected red theory, which says that every room, regardless of its overarching color palette, can use a touch of red for its energy and warmth. And while this piece is right on-trend for a woodsy Thanksgiving or holiday woodland theme, this is one of those decorations you could absolutely keep out all year long.

This lamp and the rest of the Thanksgiving collab dropped today on Target.com, and trust me — you’re going to want to take a peek at all the other offerings. But look now, because this collection is bound to sell out! Prices start at just $6 and top out at $60. Everything’s so cute, I’m already planning my first-ever Friendsgiving to show off what I’m going to buy!
