Coronation Street fans cry 'shame' as they scratch heads over 'missing' storyline
Chesney Winter-Brown (played by Sam Aston) has never had it easy on Coronation Street and is often struggling to make ends meet to feed his growing family. In recent weeks, he was crushed to learn an inspector had announced his kebab shop needed to close until manager Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) sorted out the situation.
While the loss of income would not have much of an impact on Dev as he has other business ventures in Weatherfield, it's been a crushing blow for Chesney, who doesn't have a great deal of money in the bank. The upsetting scene reminded fans that Chesney had told his partner Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) earlier this year his dream was to have his very own burger joint called ChesBurger.
On Reddit, one user noted that Chesney mentioned making gourmet burgers months ago on the soap as a way of earning more money for his family, but the idea has never been mentioned since.

They added: "It would be nice to have a bit of a change of pace for him and Gemma rather than the same, 'We can't afford it, but we'll manage,' story over and over again."
Fans flocked to the comments section to share how it's a "shame" the storyline never came to fruition, with one writing: "Chesney was always very entrepreneurial, remember when he had a stall at the market selling dog collars etc? It's a shame they've taken this route of ongoing misery with money. I'd love to see him and Gemma catch a break."
A second penned: "I think Corrie writers don't like the characters to have any ambitions, so they keep them in their defined boxes." Meanwhile, a third said: "I think this was a bit longer than a few months ago, but I remember the scenes. I guess it was another plot that the scriptwriters abandoned."
Another person added: "That's what I don't like! Wouldn't it be great if Chezburgers took off?!" A fifth added: "It just seems really pointless if they're not going to follow through with it. It would have been something a bit different rather than the usual struggling financial storyline that's been going on for years."
Another fan suggested: "Ches and Kirk were always a good double act. It would be good if they could come up with some kind of business that makes a success."
Will producers re-visit the storyline in upcoming episodes on the ITV soap, or has it just fizzled out?
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITVX.
