Busy Philipps 'marries herself' in destination wedding for 40th birthday
Busy Philipps celebrated her 40th birthday by throwing a destination wedding – for herself.
The American actor and talk show host – who has been married to American screenwriter Marc Silverstein since 2007 – held an outdoors “wedding [to myself]” at a popular wedding venue in Mexico.
She even turned up in a white bridal-style gown.

Explaining her rationale on Instagram, she wrote: “I decided I wanted to throw myself a destination wedding(to myself) for my 40th at one of my favorite places in the world.” [sic]
The event was held at Flora’s Farms in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, a popular wedding venue.

Celebrity guests included ‘Girls’ writer Jenni Konner and actor Elizabeth Banks.
Philipps wore a cut-out white midi dress by Zimmerman for the occasion. Earlier this year, Philipps wore her actual bridal gown from her wedding to Silverstein, in an appearance on her talk show, Busy tonight.
The sologamy trend explained
Marrying yourself – a concept known as “sologamy” has become something of a microtrend in recent years.
While you can’t legally marry yourself, the trend is often seen as a declaration of self-love.
