Bows are this year's prettiest Christmas decorating trend
We're used to seeing bows tied up with ribbon on a beautifully wrapped present, but what about a giant one (used in lieu of a wreath) on a front door? Or designs in every colour of the rainbow replacing baubles on the Christmas tree? From plates on the table to cushions on the sofa, it's safe to say that bows are enjoying something of a moment this festive season. There's something nostalgic about them, yes, but they feel very 'now'.
With their characteristically pretty shape, bows make a charming addition to any festive decorating scheme. If your style is relatively traditional, why not consider using a luxurious red velvet design as a tree topper? "This will give make your tree stand out from the crowd, without making it seem like you've abandoned tradition altogether" says James Cunningham, GH's Homes and Gardens Editor.
"Bows can be a playful addition to any decorative scheme, especially if you're experimenting with different colours," says Christina Geggus, GH's Junior Homes Writer. If you tend to deck your halls in a bolder way then, yes, the choices are endless. Ribbon (ideally leftover from wrapping your Christmas presents) can be tied into loopy bows on the end of Christmas tree branches, while Eleanor Bowmer’s vibrant bow-design plates (as seen in our shopping edit below) will add a fun twist to your dining table.
