Bette Midler shames Donald Trump for criticising how women look
Donald Trump has hit headlines twice this week for inappropriate comments.
On Tuesday, the president interrupted a diplomatic phone call with the Irish prime minister to mention one reporter’s “beautiful smile.”
Yesterday, Trump mocked US TV host Mika Brzezinski for allegedly having a facelift after she reportedly “spoke badly” of him.
The news touched a nerve with singer and actress Bette Midler.
Posting an unflattering photo of Trump playing tennis in tiny white shorts, Bette commented: “Lard ass! Anyone as broad in the beam as this bum should think twice about slagging people about their looks!!”

The photo – in which the president’s underwear could be clearly seen – sparked a reaction from people on Twitter with Bette congratulating people on their witty memes.

It’s not the first time Trump has attacked a woman’s appearance. In the past, he has criticised the likes of Cher and Bette Midler herself (perhaps why she was so quick to react).
In 2012, he said it was a “double standard” that Bette could comment on his hair but he couldn’t attack her “ugly face or body.”
A later tweet read: “While @BetteMidler is an extremely unattractive woman, I refuse to say that because I always insist on being politically correct.”
.@BetteMidler talks about my hair but I’m not allowed to talk about her ugly face or body — so I won’t. Is this a double standard?
